About

HL

I'm Hans Lao, a Platform & Cloud Engineer based in Bracknell, UK, and relocating to Switzerland in summer 2026. I've spent 5+ years building and operating reliable infrastructure — from 100+ server enterprise estates to a fully infrastructure-as-code private cloud in my homelab.

My focus today is where infrastructure and AI meet: local model serving, retrieval-augmented generation, and the governance of AI agents in production. I believe the question "can an AI be trusted with infrastructure work?" deserves an honest, rigorous answer — which is what my Rubicon benchmark research is about.

I'm a HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate, Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), and Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA), with CKA on the way. I work in Azure, AWS, and GCP, and I've led infrastructure work to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance.
